It's possible, but it's more complicated and harder than it should be.
SimCity 4, by itself, is fairly difficult and not very intuitive about how to make great cities. Its just that there are a few GLARING problems that should have been addressed by this point. Overall, I'd say if you liked SC2000, this is DEFINITELY worth getting, It reminds me so much of that beautiful SC2000 and it really does improve on almost every aspect -including the graphics (the game looks good). It's an unbelievable idea that takes a lot of 'work around' etc. I do like that you can cheat the game and create any real-life city from a black and white land elevation map (which are available all over the net) but WHY THE HELL couldn't this have been included in the game as a feature. It serves hardly any purpose and only distracts you from all the things that make SimCity NOT a sims game (and thus enjoyable) Thankfully you can completely ignore this stuff. The 'sims' aspect of the game is retarded. I welcome any solutions people have found to this, and I assume creating highways etc might cut down.but implementing this takes LOTS of time and $$$. Left to their own though, they will make a traffic jam like you've never SEEN. You can spend DAYS and DAYS tellign you citizens to take a certain path, but that would be mind-numbing. Transportation (even with the rush hour pack) still isn't quite right. The second problem I find is the citizens inability to use the roads. SUre you can pause the game, but then your not making money.so whats the point? there is ALWAYS a pressing matter that will take you away from what your doing. You can't simply sit back for a five minutes and watch your city grow, or plant some trees etc. The biggest one is the amount of micromanagement you need. There are some problems that make themselves apparent over time though. I've been playing on and off for a few years now and overall, I really enjoy the game. The soundtrack is GREAT and a perfect compliment to 'mayoring' a city. The game is fun, and you'll be able to get quite a bit done in 1/2 hour of play per session, and it's great to watch sections of your city develop a personality over time. I find the normal setting to be a good ballance, and not quite as sadistic as hard. Keep in mind there is a master difficulty level. A city that will make money isn't tough to do, but a clean, low traffic, low crime, well educated, high tech city that will make money can be hard. It's not HARD per say to make a city and have it make money, but it takes a lot of micromanagement, to keep it running smoothly.
Simply unzip the download contents to your Plugins folder. The Mac App Store version may work as it is simply a Wine wrapper, though this is just a theory and is untested.
Fixed a memory leak when saving with the prop pox vaccine active.
